When Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are planning Duncan’s murder the curtains in the background should be red. Red is a symbol for evil and since the decor of the castle would have most likely been picked by Lady Macbeth, I believe it is appropriate. Lady Macbeth is trying to ‘hype’ Macbeth up enough to have the courage to kill Duncan. All of these elements show Lady Macbeth’s sinister side that she keeps hidden.
